Once again, Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) has awarded a Certificate of Superior Performance to The Eye Care Institute.
MGMA is a national organization dedicated to the success of medical group practices. Each year it surveys members on topics related to managing medical group practices.
For 2010 The Eye Care Institute was named a top performer in the area of Patient Satisfaction. This includes how well we educate our patients, staff and physicians. Also included is how well we reward our staff for customer service and how well we keep in contact with our patients. Dr Sean Murphy, diabetic and retinal specialist, stated that keeping our patients satisfied is a main goal, along with providing the best eye care possible. Dr Murphy continued that to achieve those goals, it is imperative that doctors and staff members stay informed on the latest advances in eye care. We are very proud of our monthly newsletters, comprehensive website, handouts, and information videos, Dr Murphy concluded.
The Eye Care Institute also received recognition for accounts receivable management. Mark Prussian, CEO, of The Eye Care Institute stated that although the public often does not want to think of their doctor as being really good at ensuring the staff collects money well, it is imperative that receipts come in so that the practice can continue to function. Excellent care provided to patients, the desire of the public to choose our medical practice, and collecting the cash necessary to pay our staff and operate our practice create a circle of care which can only function if that circle remains intact. Therefore, accounts receivable management is necessary to ensure the practice can continue to provide excellent care, Prussian stated.
The Eye Care Institute provides eye care and surgery to about 33,000 patients per year in Louisville, Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The practice was formed during the early 1980s and employs about 45 persons at the main location at 1536 Story Avenue in Louisville. Previously, MGMA recognized The Eye Care Institute as a Superior Performer in 2002 and 2007.
