Mt Washington office to close permanently on July 24th

June 15, 2012 by wpadmin

The Eye Care Institute regretfully announces the intent to close our Mt Washington office permanently on July 24, 2012.  We are no longer selling glasses in Mt Washington and will be limiting our hours to two days per week for the next few weeks and then one day per week. Here is a statement from Mark L. Jaggers, MD:

I write this with great sadness. I entered into medicine after my career as an Air Force pilot ended abruptly when I became ill.  Once my cancer was in remission, I attended the University Of Louisville School Of Medicine, where I also completed my internship and residency in ophthalmology.  I was motivated to use my skills to continue to make as great a difference as possible in the lives of others.

I have been a practicing ophthalmologist for about five years. I gladly found my professional home at The Eye Care Institute.  Drs Brennan Greene, John Meyer and Sean Murphy have provided me with great opportunities to practice high quality eye care and surgery in a practice full of dedicated and sincere people.  I was even able to open a practice in Mt. Washington to provide much-needed high quality ophthalmic care to the people of Bullitt County.

Now, I find myself unable to continue to practice medicine.  I have not seen patients for about six weeks, and do not believe I will be able to resume practice.

Further, maintaining a part-time optometric office in Mt Washington is not feasible for The Eye Care Institute, and it is not fair to our patients.  For those needing urgent care, our office hours with Dr. Kim Huseman in Mt. Washington are just too limited and our other offices are simply too far away to provide the highest quality eye care for the patients in Bullitt County.

The Louisville offices at 1536 Story Avenue and at Norton Audubon Hospital remain open. Dr. Huseman will be moving her practice to our Audubon Hospital location.  If you have an upcoming appointment in Mt Washington, you will be contacted by the staff of The Eye Care Institute.  I hope you will continue your eye care with the three wonderful ophthalmologists and three equally wonderful optometrists in the group.  It has been my honor to provide care for you and your loved ones.

The centralized phone number for appointment scheduling or questions is 502-589-1500.
