What’s the biggest misconception about health care in our country? That every other country has a better system. We have exceptional health care in the U.S. We are at the forefront of medical discovery and treatment. Health care is not free, and will never be in other countries or in the US.
Many people agree that the health care costs are out of control. What can be done about that? Reducing unnecessary testing, treatments and hospital admissions would help. For whatever reason — be it fear of litigation or the need to boost receipts — the volume of diagnostic testing continues to increase. Also, if more resources were dedicated to prevention of disease, fewer resources would need to be dedicated toward treatment.
What works in our system? What doesn’t? We have an excellent system for delivery of emergency care to just about everyone in the country. Those in need will never be turned away in the emergency room or hospital. Life-saving treatments are …
