Inevitably, price will also play a role in your decision. You must note that the cheapest surgeon is not always the best surgeon to treat your eyes. Remember these are your eyes and this is not a reversible procedure so you want to trust your surgeon. The "LASIK only" centers advertise prices as low as $299 per eye but their own websites show that the actual price for 90% of all patients is at least $1,299 per eye. Further, those sorts of places often do not include preoperative or postoperative exams, eye drops, follow up care, or even antibiotics. Further, most of those "LASIK only" centers do not have full-time ophthalmologists. Their ophthalmologists often travel from one city to next to perform LASIK and then move on.
At The Eye Care Institute, our price is all inclusive. You will meet with Dr John Meyer, or Dr. Pattar and our LASIK Coordinator, at each preoperative visit. During the day, Dr Meyer and Dr. Pattar are at our Story Avenue location. If it is not their turn to be on call after hours, one of our other full time ophthalmologists who is on call can reach them if needed.
With LASIK, just like most things in life, you get what you pay for. At The Eye Care Institute, we treat your vision very seriously and therefore, we call our LASIK center, the LASIK Institute of Louisville.
