Catherine Newton, MD has announced her retirement from the private practice of ophthalmology.
Dr Newton earned her undergraduate degree in Mathematics and holds Master of Teaching in Anatomy, as well as a Medical Degree. Dr Newton competed her residency in Ophthalmology at University of Wisconsin – Madison and holds dual Fellowships, from Duke in Ophthalmic Pathology, and from Louisiana State University in Cornea.
Dr Newton has authored over 2 dozen scientific papers and has given about as many oral scientific presentations. Dr Newton continues to serve on the Cornea Committee as an associate examiner for physicians taking the examination for certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr Newton holds a teaching role at the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Louisville Medical School and will continue to work with residents as she is called upon.
As a practicing physician since earning her Medical Degree in 1979, Dr Newton has provided care to tens of thousands of patients. We are grateful for her years of service as an ophthalmologist and that further, Dr Newton chose to spend her final years of practice here at The Eye Care Institute. As such, Dr Newton is asking her patients to continue their eye care here with The Doctors of The Eye Care Institute.
