Dr. John Meyer Helps Promote Sister in Naval Ceremony  Dr John Meyer, a LASIK and cornea surgeon at The Eye Care Institute participated with his father, in promoting his sister, Dr. Gretchen Meyer, a pediatrician, to the rank of Captain in the United States Navy. The ceremony, held on July 14th at the Naval Medical Center at Portsmouth, VA was an honor for Dr. John Meyer in that he and his father, Dr. Melvin Meyer, a semi-retired ophthalmologist in St. Louis, MO, were both given the opportunity to participate in the ceremony for Dr. Gretchen Meyer. Dr John Meyer attained the rank of Commander in the Navy, while his father attained the rank of Captain in the Navy. While Dr. John Meyer was in the Navy, he was stationed at the Naval Hospital in San Diego where he completed an Internship in General Surgery. He also trained as a Naval Flight Surgeon at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, FL. Additionally, Dr. Meyer served as a Naval Flight Surgeon in Operation Desert Storm. |
